Egypt attracts attention on the ITB China 2025 – with strong tourism growth and strategic vision

Egypt ended his participation in the ITB China 2025 with a top -class press conference that attracted the interest of international media and trade visitors from the travel industry. Under the direction of Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, the Delegation Egypt’s tourism strategy for the Chinese market presented – with a special focus on the latest developments in the tourism sector and future strategic plans.

Youssef announced that the number of Chinese travelers after Egypt rose by 60.7 % in 2024 – a positive trend that continues in 2025.

“China is an important market,” says Youssef. “Our focus is on personalization, accessibility, the development of new markets and the diversification of the tourist offer.”

Grand Egyptian Museum becomes a cultural landmark

At the center of Egypt’s presentation was the highly expected Grand Egyptian Museum (Gem), which will be officially opened on July 3, 2025. The museum is in the immediate vicinity of the world -famous Pyramids of Gizeh, on the outskirts of Cairo, and houses over 100,000 artifacts – including the full collection from the tomb of Tutankhamun for the first time.

The architectural size, the use of immersive technologies and the museum’s cultural self -image were described as the key elements of Egyptian tourism renewal. Already during the soft opening phase in 2024, more than 5,000 guests visited the museum every day. International interest continues to increase – before the official opening in the summer of 2025.

“The Gem is not just a symbol of our ancient heritage, but an expression of our vision for the future. It underlines Egyptian role as a cultural pioneer on the world stage,” said Youssef.
