eFuels as a booster for the energy transition

The starting signal has been fired – on January 25th and 26th, 2024 International Congress of the eFuel Alliance

Vienna (OTS) “eFuels boost the energy transition, the journey has already begun,” with these words the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) and the eFuel Alliance announced the international eFuel Congress, which at the beginning of the year brought renowned experts from home and abroad to the cross-border event Exchange of information brings to Vienna. The highly acclaimed event provides exclusive insights into technology projects that will sustainably change our future.

Not only projects and technologies are presented, but also the investors and developers behind them.

“In this concentrated form, the Vienna Congress has the character of a premiere; there has probably never been anything like it before,” says organizer Stephan Schwarzer from the eFuel Alliance Austria. “Here you can see where the journey is going, both from a technological and user perspective. Politicians also have a say, because they have more than just a say in determining the pace and intensity of the expansion of new technologies.”

“eFuels are an important component of the energy transition. Within a very short time, ekkon has become a pioneering discussion platform for eFuels. We need this serious discussion of all energy sources in order to implement the energy transition,” says Jürgen Streitner, head of the environmental and energy policy department, WKÖ. A technology-open energy transition is essential to achieve climate neutrality and to make climate-neutral energy sources available at competitive prices.

A very special highlight is the symbiosis of energy transition policy and development policy, which will take shape in the keynote speech by UNIDO Director Gunther Beger. Climate policy is only successful globally, and this success is more likely to occur the more closely climate protection and industrial development are intertwined.

At the same time, some myths are also being dispelled, such as that eFuels are too expensive and come too late. Broad effectiveness and mass production of eFuels can be achieved as early as the 1930s, says the globally recognized Karlsruhe mobility expert Thomas Koch in his keynote speech on January 26, 2024.

A prominent CEO panel will discuss what the local economy needs to successfully implement the energy transition.

Exhibitor spaces available

The event is rounded off by a poster exhibition and a Young Scientist Award. Anyone who would like to exhibit a project or a business model or other energy transition activities is welcome. Please register to Dr. Dora Szalay (d.szalay@efuel-alliance.at).

Again with a science award

With the award, we highlight young scientists who have contributed to scientific progress with excellent research work on the topic of eFuels. This year the awards will be presented in a festive setting in the Vienna City Hall.
