Economic hike 2024: 150 meters in altitude for a good cause

The impressive backdrop of Hochfügen in the Zillertal once again provided the backdrop for café+co’s business hike this year. This year, the 14th edition of the business hike led around 250 managers and business people on a hike of around eight kilometers into the Zillertal Alps, which had freshly snowed overnight. Active support in the organization came from the Tyrol Industrial Association, the Schwaz Chamber of Commerce, the Spieljochbahn, the tourism association “First Holiday Region in the Zillertal – Fügen-Kaltenbach” and “CASH – Das Handelsmagazin”. Like every year, this year the charitable idea was the focus. Around 460,000 euros were raised together with the 14th edition. The donations will benefit the “Network Tirol Helps” and the “Zillertalers Help Zillertalers” initiative.

Hiking for a good cause

Since its founding in 2010, economic migration has established itself as a fixture for managers and business representatives. In addition to networking, the main focus is on collecting donations. “The economic hike is not just an impressive natural experience, but an opportunity to do good together. It is inspiring to see how many people are willing to get involved in a good cause and at the same time enjoy the beauty of Tyrol,” says Fritz Kaltenegger, CEO of café+co International Holding. This year’s donations will be handed over to the Tyrolean Governor Anton Mattle in December.

The originally planned route over the four alpine pastures – Lamarkalm, Pfundsalm, Quarteralm and Holzalm – had to be changed at short notice due to the weather. Instead, this year’s hike started after the journey to the Hochfügen valley station in the direction of Kegelalm. The participants mastered 150 meters of altitude over a distance of 8 kilometers and the weather held up. A special highlight was the accompaniment of a traditional cattle drive. Once at the Kegelalm, all hikers were thanked for their participation before the 2024 economic hike ended with a cozy end at the Hochfügen mountain hotel.
