“Eco”: Why many are now changing their electricity and gas suppliers

On May 16th at 10:30 p.m. on ORF 2

Vienna (OTS) Dieter Bornemann will present the ORF business magazine “Eco” on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 10:30 p.m. on ORF 2 with the following contributions:

Big change: Why many are now changing their electricity and gas suppliers

Around 100,000 households and companies changed their energy suppliers between January and March this year – more than in years. According to E-Control, a household can save up to 2,000 euros. Is now the right time to switch? “Eco” takes a current look at the energy markets and asks experts how and where they buy energy privately. Report: Hans Hrabal, Michael Mayrhofer

Reducing CO2: How we can intervene in supply chains without ruining the economy

A quarter of the greenhouse gases emitted annually can be traced back to just eleven corporations: global oil, gas or coal companies on which the pulse of the global economy depends. Researchers in Vienna have calculated a model of how emissions could be reduced with gentle cuts in supply chains. The problem: Only a few European countries – such as B. Hungary or Belgium – record VAT along the entire supply chain and therefore know exactly where to start. A small change in the tax system could reduce emissions and prevent billions of dollars in tax fraud without ruining the economy. Report: Martin Steiner

Beautiful & (successful): Do attractive people have better career opportunities?

People who look good often have an easier time in life. Beauty plays a significant role not only in choosing a partner, but also in work. And this despite the fact that attractiveness says nothing about performance. Studies show that it is often easier for attractive people to pursue a career. A CV without a photo hardly changes this, because at the latest during the interview your appearance will also be assessed and this will later be reflected in your salary. Why is this so and how are beauty and professional success really connected? Report: Hans Hrabal, Clara Kloepfer
