Also within the framework of Easter, customs lived is held up in the army – both in Germany and for missions abroad, often thousands of kilometers from home. While many Austrians spend the Easter holidays with their families, numerous soldiers of the Austrian Armed Forces are also in the service of our country’s security at this special time.
Easter services take place across the entire Holy Week, which will find their peak on Sunday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. in the Easter Sunday mass in the St.Georgs Cathedral in Wiener Neustadt.
Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner: “For many, Easter is a festival to recharge your batteries for the rest of the year and the upcoming challenges. Many of our soldiers are also in use at the protection of Austria, the population, peace and our neutrality at home and abroad. Especially during this time I would like to thank all of our employees all the more for their tireless service.”

The Roman Catholic military order of the Republic of Austria (military diocese) looks after around 100,000 Catholics in and around the army.
The military pastor is more than just a pastor: he not only accompanies soldiers with services and church official acts, but also supports them in emergency and crisis situations. Austrian soldiers are also accompanied by military ministers if possible.
