DPU awards Lower Austria scholarship for medical studies

Krems/Wiener Neustadt (ots) –

DANUBE Private University (DPU) in Krems is now starting a unique initiative to sustainably strengthen medical care in Lower Austria: Scholarships are now being awarded for studying human medicine (Dr. Med. Univ.). The aim is to specifically combat the shortage of doctors in the region and to further upgrade the health location in Lower Austria.

Last year, the DPU awarded full and partial grants for Lower Austrians. This meant that more than half of the new students come from Lower Austria. A total of 61 out of 120 students from Lower Austria. They come from 47 different communities, from the northern Waldviertel to the southern industrial district, from Mostviertel to the Weinviertel.

With the new scholarship offers, Danube Private University makes an important contribution in order to pave the way to the region’s medical care.

Great framework conditions for prospective doctors

The scholarship is aimed at applicants who are committed to working in Lower Austria for at least five years after completing their specialist training – either in the resident area or in the hospitals of the Lower Austrian State Health Agency (Lower Austrian LGA).

The scholarship includes the complete takeover of the tuition fees for six-year studies, consisting of a bachelor’s and master’s program. The regular study costs amount to around 28,350 euros annually – these fees are therefore eliminated for the scholarship holders. The Bachelor’s degree is completed in Krems, the master part takes place in Wiener Neustadt.

“With this scholarship, the DPU offers a unique opportunity to start the career in Lower Austria and actively contribute to improving health care in the state,” said DPU director Robert Wagner.
