The German press agency is expanding its worldwide correspondence network and opens up a new office in Doha. Germany’s largest news agency is thus strengthening the focus on a region whose economic and political importance has finally increased steadily. The dpa provides the media in the Middle East and the world with reliable and checked information in Arabic. The new location is located in Media City Qatar together with other international media brands.
“We are pleased that we have managed to expand the editorial presence of the dpa in the golf region,” says Peter Kropsch, chairman of the DPA management. “The dpa has been successfully reporting in Arabic for decades. It has severe roots and correspondent offices in many Arab countries. How pronounced our commitment is in the region, the Arab service, which started together with the AP, shows last year.”

The editorial location is controlled by the DPA Arabian service based in Cairo. Mokhtar Gmati, Managing Editor of the Arabian Service, emphasizes: “From Qatar, we are expanding the reporting and for the Golf region with four correspondents. We will continue to invest in our Arab service – as with the recent cooperation with the Associated Press in the Global Arabic News.”

The dpa has been reporting in Arabic since the 1960s. In addition to Egypt, DPA corresponds to the correspondent network also includes locations in Israel, Lebanon, the Palestinian autonomous areas, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Yemen and Qatar.
