Don’t distract from Lower Austria’s total failure

The environmental organization VIRUS criticizes the reactions of Lower Austrian regional politicians to the legal end of the S8-Marchfeld expressway. Spokesman Wolfgang Rehm: “The decades-long failure that can be seen here can only be attributed to the Lower Austrian state government, which, through its power politics, withholds traffic relief from the region just to push ahead with a project from the old concrete era, which the federal government is then supposed to pay for.”

Here a court ruling – it says “that” and not “the” – found that approval was not available and not a green plot, as State Parliament member Lobner wanted to launch in a stop-the-thief style and garnished with false numbers as a diversionary tactic. And State Transport Councilor Landbauer also made a mistake in his questionable reaction. “He obviously stands for a transport policy of the 1940s and shows his totalitarian thinking when he wants to reform the administrative judiciary because of a court decision that doesn’t suit him, so that the reality is based on his fantasies of omnipotence,” criticizes Rehm. “Finally, State Governor Mikl-Leitner should finally stop taking over the Marchfeld population driven by ideology and sounding the same horn as her regional governor Lobner. The BVwG is not about ideology, but rather a court has decided on the basis of applicable environmental protection regulations, and she will have to accept that, whether she likes it or not,” concluded Rehm.
