It is the question of all questions: how does peace succeed? At the center of the documentary “How wars end and peace is possible” are the conflicts in Colombia, South Africa, Afghanistan and the Middle East between Israel and the Palestinians.
The film asks Peace Nobel Prize winners, diplomats, negotiators and former guerrilla fighters who have dedicated their lives of the task. Because we can learn from such peace and pencils: every war is different, but if you want peace, you have to take conscious steps – develop political will, step in dialogue with the enemy, take the path of reconciliation. Perpetrators have to confess to their guilt and work them up. And with each of these steps it becomes clear: peace is an art, but it also requires persistent, hard work – between people and powers who are initially not friends, but enemies.
The documentary is part of the focus 80 years ago: The end of World War II in Europe.
