Disaster aid unit AFDRU ends to combat the mouth and claw disease in Slovakia

53 soldiers from the AFDRU disaster aid unit of the Federal Army have been in use in Slovakia to support their mouth and claw disease around the clock in Slovakia since March 26. The task of the specialists of the Federal Army was to support the local emergency services in containing and thus prevent the expansion of the plague. The soldiers decontaminate large vehicles at the Rajka border crossing between Hungary and Slovakia. In eleven days of use, 6,400 large vehicles with 25,000 liters of chemistry and 250,000 liters of water were decontaminated. Today our soldiers return to Austria, will wait and follow up for their device and are then available again for further missions.

Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner: “During these challenging days for all farms in Slovakia and Austria, once again the strong cohesion in the European Union is shown. The soldiers of the Afdru disaster unit of the Federal Army were immediately ready to support the mouth and claw lucks around the clock. My thanks go to the soldier and the soldier the Afdru unit, because with their tireless efforts, these specialists have contributed to the fact that the spread of the plague has at least slowed down and that further measures could be taken in time in other places. ”

The AFDRU team was activated as part of the EU disaster protection procedure and supported the operational measures. The soldiers decontaminate large vehicles at the Rajka border crossing between Hungary and Slovakia. The underbody of the vehicles as well as the sides in the area of ​​the wheel boxes and bikes are treated with chemicals to kill the virus. Around the clock, the emergency services in shift work decontaminate up to 25 vehicles per hour so that they can enter Slovakia. For this purpose, around 1,000 liters of water and 100 liters of chemicals are consumed every hour. The operation was co -financed with funds from the EU’s European disaster protection mechanism.
