“Health must not be a question of income-comprehensive health care for people is a fundamental task of a modern state,” emphasized SPÖ health spokesman Rudolf Silvan on Tuesday in the National Council in the course of the budget debate on the chapter Health. Despite the tense budget situation, the Federal Government has clearly known to not save in the health system, but to invest in a targeted manner. As early as 2026 there was 500 million euros more for health. ****
Silvan referred to the numerous offensive measures in the field of health:
-
Freezing the recipe fees – noticeable relief for people with low incomes
-
Medicine price lid, which is particularly important to older people, single parents and chronically ill
-
Expansion of psychosocial offers for children and adolescents – for the equality of mental and physical health
-
School psychology as a standard supply, not as an exception
-
Better outpatient care especially in rural areas
-
Health reform funds for implementing long -term structural reforms
-
10 million euros for women’s health in 2026 alone.
A special focus is on the expansion of digitization and telemedicine. The health telephone 1450 is modernized so that the patient gets the right treatment more quickly. In addition, “telepraxes” with trained staff are to be introduced that can be reached around the clock. “Our goal is clear: digitally in front of an outpatient, before inpatient. So we accompany humans efficiently, close to home and as required by the system,” emphasizes Silvan.
“People in this country pay taxes and social security contributions-they have the right to high-quality, solidarity-financed health care, regardless of income or place of residence,” the SPÖ health spokesman concluded. (Conclusion) Ah/LW
