Decade-long mystery solved – is the skull from Ephesus of Cleopatra’s sister?
Vienna (OTS) –

An interdisciplinary research team led by the anthropologist Gerhard Weber from the University of Vienna, together with experts from the Austrian Academy of Sciences, examined a skull that was found in the ruins of Ephesus (Turkey) in 1929. It has long been speculated that these could be the remains of Arsinoë IV, the sister of the famous Cleopatra. Using the most modern methods, the scientists from Vienna have now been able to solve the long-standing mystery. Does the skull from Ephesus come from Cleopatra’s sister? The researchers will provide answers at a press conference on Friday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. at the University of Vienna. The skull itself will be on display exclusively.

The anthropologist provides answers about the famous skull Gerhard Weber from the University of Vienna and the archaeologist Martin Steskal from the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The internationally renowned archaeologists and anthropologists will also be available to answer questions afterwards Tom Higham and Ron Pinhasi from the University of Vienna – both also contributed to the clarification.

The scientists will also show the skull on site for clear explanations.
