After yesterday’s death of a military servant at the Spittal Türk barracks, the Carinthia State Police Department is now investigating. The Carinthian military command set up an investigative commission; this supports the police authorities. The accused soldier, whose service pistol fired the fatal shot, is in police custody.
The armed forces are deeply affected and Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner has expressed her condolences. Both the family and all indirectly affected soldiers receive psychological support from the Federal Army. As a sign of mourning, the service flags of all Carinthian barracks are flown at half-mast.
