Redcare Pharmacy continues its strong growth in OTC and Rx medicines(1). To redeem their e-prescriptions, customers almost exclusively use their smartphone app.

The vast majority of people in Germany can imagine ordering medicines online from a pharmacy: this applies to both over-the-counter (87%) and prescription medicines (74.5%)(2).
For Redcare Pharmacy customers in Germany, this has been possible completely digitally since May 2024: With the CardLink solution, an e-prescription can be easily redeemed via smartphone in the Shop Pharmacy app. All you have to do is hold your health insurance card up to your smartphone. The e-prescription is loaded and can be redeemed directly via the app.
More and more customers are redeeming their e-prescriptions directly via the app.
The fact that customers value this digital redemption method is reflected in both the development of app downloads and the share of the app as a redemption method for prescriptions:
- Since the introduction of CardLink in May, the Number of monthly downloads doubled. In October alone, the Shop Pharmacy app was downloaded around 415,000 times.
- At the same time, the App as the main redemption route for Rx orders enforced: in October, the proportion of Rx orders at Redcare Pharmacy placed via the app was 90%.
Customer acceptance of the fully digital solution is also reflected in the continued dynamic growth of Rx sales (+134% in October 2024). Measured by sales volume, Redcare Pharmacy’s market share in Germany for prescription drugs doubled between January and October 2024.
