On the occasion of the open-air concerts on Cathedral Square on the weekend from 5th to 7th. In July, Kultur St. Pölten 2024 draws a positive interim conclusion.
St. Pölten (OTS) – In the past few months, numerous projects of the cultural focus year of Culture St. Pölten 2024 have been successfully implemented: from the events and projects of the Tangente St. Pölten – Festival for Contemporary Culture, the openings of the Children’s Art Laboratory and the newly renovated Former Synagogue to a wide range of cultural activities The program of Kultur St. Pölten 2024 covered the entire urban area. Places such as the Glanzstoff factory or Linzer Straße with the Tangente festival center or places along the freely accessible art trail “The Way of the Water” were revitalized, and the cathedral square was included Film at the cathedral, concerts or art installations in public spaces were reactivated, and the alumni garden was also made open to the public. Cooperations between existing cultural institutions (e.g. St. Pölten Festival Hall, St. Pölten City Museum, Lower Austria State Theater) and with the independent scene were intensified and a joint museum card was created. The cooperation between the state of Lower Austria and the city of St. Pölten was strengthened.

Institutions with a unique selling point that will shape the cultural life of our state capital beyond 2024.”

St. Pölten and the capital region have succeeded in attracting nationwide attention with national and international projects as well as highly topical topics – the content ranges from ecological challenges to the importance of memory for the present and social coexistence in our society.
Up to and including July 7th, 162,000 guests will attend the Kultur St. Pölten 2024 events (the overall expectation for 2024 is 300,000 visitors). To date, Tangente St. Pölten has implemented 186 of the 250 planned events. The Children’s Art Laboratory and restoration of the former synagogue projects were realized within the specified time and budget. The goals set for the focus year are therefore on track for success. The sustainable positioning of St. Pölten as a cultural and tourist location is currently being monitored quantitatively and qualitatively using studies; the results will be available in autumn.
Outlook:
A new art installation by Mexican artist Mariana Castillo Deball opens on Cathedral Square on August 3rd. In September, the Tangente St. Pölten will be dedicated to the theme of democracy and will bring, among other things, the world premiere of “Maria Stuart” in an adaptation by Amir Reza Koohestani and the Austrian premiere of the wrestling show “Battle for the City” to the stage. The new city library will also open in September and the Grillparzer music and art school campus will open in October.
