CPHI & PMEC China has an increase in international visitor numbers, as the prospects for the global pharmaceutical handel Verbe

The record participation from abroad reflects the new dynamics in pharmaceutical production and in global sourcing, since the loosening of tariffs boosts growth

CPHI & PMEC China (June 24-26) returns to the Shanghai New International Expo Center, in the middle of a significant increase in international interest, with the dynamics of the industry to recover after a number of positive developments in global trade and in pharmaceutical investments. With more than 90,000 participants and over 12,000 international managers, the edition 2025 will become the largest pharmaceutical event ever held in Asia.

The increase in worldwide interest in the event coincides with the relaxation of the trade tariffs, the improved reviews of the pharmaceutical industry and the increased investment expenditure in this sector. International managers take part in record number and are looking for new suppliers of ingredients and equipment providers in China’s robust production system.

A remarkable trend is the growing interest of Western pharmaceutical companies in Chinese biotech assets, not only with regard to access to the domestic market, but also with regard to global licensing options. At the same time, the participation from the Middle East has increased significantly, since the Gulf States implement strategies to build regional production centers and join larger delegations from India and the United States.

“The basics of the industry are still incredibly strong, since the pharmaceutical industry reaches record objectives worldwide in the discovery of new products and returns to growth” explained Natasha Jennings, head of the Global Growth Marketing area. “The international participants use China’s huge network of companies in the areas of ingredients, manufacture and starting materials to promote global production growth.”

The audience of the event reflects the commitment of the industry at a high level: 80 % of international participants have purchasing powers and over 50 % are active in managerial positions.

The additional programs include a program for buyers of natural extracts (June 23) and a program for buyers of pharmaceutical machines (June 24/25). As part of the exhibition, the CPHI Celebration Awards are awarded, there is a separate conference with the 10th Biopharmaceutical Outlook Summit, an innovation gallery and regional company visits.

The event extends over 230,000 square meters with 3500 exhibitors from 150 countries and comprises 12 departments, including the new areas “Biotech” and “Fluid & Precision Equipment”.

Jennings added: “Global managers are now trying to expand their partner networks in China and to build primary, secondary and reserve suppliers for long-term strategic planning. With the improvement of trade relationships, we are experiencing a renaissance of global pharmaceutical apartments.”
