Alexandra Meissnitzer traditionally welcomes people to “Mountain Christmas” on Christmas Eve at 8:15 p.m. and this year she is going in search of traces of Christmas traditions from then and now in Lech and Zürs am Arlberg. In addition, stories of people are presented who convey a sense of home, meaning in life and joy of life and remind us of the deep meaning of Christmas. There are stars like Fritz Karl, Chris Steger and the “Pop meets Classic” duo Pecoraro & Pecoraro, who talk to Alexandra Meissnitzer about their personal Christmas and perform music or a Christmas poem.
Franz Posch welcomes you to “My favorite Christmas song” at 9:45 p.m. on ORF 2
On Christmas Eve everyone comes together, gathers in front of the Christmas tree, the smell of incense and cookies is in the air and the sounds of “Mei liabste Weihnachtsweis” at 9.45 p.m. on ORF 2 make you contemplative. This year Franz Posch is personally looking after a fir tree from Tyrol. And Ehrenberg Castle in the Ausserfern is also all about the quiet time: high up, the atmospherically lit old walls look very homely. The Christmas lights shine all the way to the ice skating rink in Reutte – it’s not just children’s eyes that light up there. As part of LICHT IN DUNKEL, Franz Posch sends musical greetings out into the world: three groups from North, East and South Tyrol – the Lower Inntal Christmas Winds, the Matreier Singers and the Huber Family Music – fulfill your Christmas music wishes. Top-class folk music and wonderful images from wintry Tyrol ensure an atmospheric ending shortly before Christmas mass.
