Vienna/Mainz (OTS) –
- 12 floors with around 9,500 square meters of gross floor area for new work
- Green and intelligent lighthouse architecture in a prime waterfront location
- Construction begins with a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony
The “Timber Peak” developed by UBM Development in the Mainz customs port is now taking physical shape. The construction work was symbolically started with the groundbreaking ceremony.
The Timber Peak, which is over 40 meters high, is the first timber hybrid high-rise in Mainz. Across twelve floors, the building offers around 9,500 square meters of gross floor space with flexible floor plans for the new type of office use – and spectacular views of the harbor. There is also a basement with prepared e-charging infrastructure for up to 40 vehicle parking spaces, a terrace on the 5th floor and a roof terrace with a panoramic view of the entire customs port.
UBM develops in the customs port green. smart. and more.
“The idea of building a high-rise office building over 40 meters high using sustainable wood-hybrid construction is a central part of our strategy green. smart. and more.“, explains Bernhard Egert, Head of Timber Construction at UBM Development, “This approach also includes the highest level of building intelligence and unique architectural features both in the aesthetic area and in the flexible use of space.”
Timber Peak, the first of four construction sites that UBM acquired in the Mainz customs port in March 2022, is now being implemented. In total, more than 42,000 m2 of floor space will be developed on these four construction sites, around 75 percent of which will be residential and 25 percent will be commercial/office. After the gradual realization of these developments, UBM expects sales proceeds of more than €300 million.
Timber Peak is not the first UBM project in the Mainz customs port. The residential projects “Waterkant” and “Kaufmannshof” as well as a Super 8 Hotel have already been realized and sold. The “Flößerhof” project is currently under construction in partnership with CA Immo.
Wood hybrid construction helps with EU taxonomy
With its resource-saving hybrid wood construction method, Timber Peak paves the way for CO2-optimized building construction and management. Intelligent building automation enables users to largely automatically fulfill the future reporting obligations of the EU taxonomy and other reporting obligations aimed at sustainability and energy optimization. Consumption and energy parameters are systematically recorded and made available.
DGNB Gold certification is being sought for the building.
