On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the connecting office of the European Parliament in Vienna invites you to a variety of events.

March 5, 2025: Discussion on “The EU, Austria and women’s rights”
Politicians from five parties discuss together with committed, young Europeans: Interior of the Euth association about the challenges and progress in women’s rights in politics, society and business – both in the EU and in Austria. Among them are the MEPs Elisabeth Dieringer-Granza (PFE/FPÖ) and Lena Schilling (Greens/EFA/Greens).

March 6, 2025: European cinema with the Lux film “Julie Keeps Quiet”
On March 6th, the liaison office will show the film Julie Keeps Quiet, nominated for the Lux public award. Afterwards, the MEPs Evelyn Regner (S&D/SPÖ) and Anna Stürgkh (Renew/Neos) discuss the topics of the film and the role of the European Parliament in the field of gender equality.
The film “Julie Keeps Quiet” deals with elite tennis player Julie, whose coaches in the crosshairs of investigators and is suspended. Players of the club are encouraged to make a statement, but Julie decides. The film not only illuminates July’s personal decision, but also the structural hurdles and moral dilemma, with which women are confronted in similar situations. The film invites you to think and exchange about justice, responsibility and the challenges that women face in a society characterized by power structures.

March 7, 2025: Annual conference of “Europe at school” in Graz on “Women’s rights and equality in the EU – how far are we?”
The conference brings politicians: inside, expert: inside and educator: Inside together for the development of equality policy in the EU. It addresses progress and challenges of EU Equality efforts, the representation of women in politics, the risks of technological developments for equality as well as the role of education policy and school in the promotion of gender equality. The MEP Elisabeth Grossmann (S&D/SPÖ) talks about the EU strategy for equality between 2020-2025.

March 8, 2025: Team European concert in the Musikverein
The concert focuses on four strong women: two composers, a conductor and a writer. Under the direction of Dorothy Khadem-Missagh, the Beethoven Frühling Festival Orchestra presents works by Flora Marlene Geißelbrecht (“The Weapons Low!”) And Louise Farrenc (Symphony No. 3). In memory of historical anniversaries-including 80 years of the war, 50 years of the OSCE final file, 30 years of EU accession to Austria and 70 years of uno membership-the program sets a strong sign of peace and equality.
