After the successful election in April, the Greens Vienna will be strengthened in the next five years of opposition work. The Green Club has reorganized today and set decisive leaders: Judith Pühringer and Peter Kraus were confirmed as a city council with a clear majority in their functions. In terms of content, Judith Pühringer will have the topics of labor market and people with disabilities, Peter Kraus the topics of climate protection and queer policy. There is a generation change in the role of the club chairman: Georg Prack takes over the function of David Ellensohn, deputy club chairman becomes Julia Malle.
“David Ellensohn has led the green club as a club chairman for many years and was also a strong voice for control and transparency as well as in the fight against the right. From deserters monument to the investigation commissions – David Ellensohn has left many traces in Vienna’s city policy. We thank David for his high commitment as a club chairman and are happy that his wealth of experience was Club is still available, ”says Judith Pühringer and Peter Kraus.
“Our goal is to do the Greens through hard work as a leading opposition party. The Greens are entitled to shape, so we see ourselves as constructive towards the new city government. At the same time, where the governance leaves the courage, we will look for the necessary changes. I look forward to the task as a club chairman and thanks to my predecessor David Ellensohn for his great work,” said Prack.
“With our new, active team, we stand for consequent and constructive opposition policy. For large future projects and concrete improvements in everyday life, we will be strong partners for all Viennese. The Viennese can rely on the fact that we can continue to remain a loud voice for affordable living, real climate protection and the best education for all children,” said Pühringer, Kraus and Prack.
