Comradeship Association welcomes General Striedinger’s demand

The Austrian Comradeship Association welcomes the call by Chief of General Staff Rudolf Striedinger for an extension of basic military service.

The fact is that “the country’s strategic reserve”, i.e. the militia, is currently only operational to a very limited extent – both in terms of numbers and due to the lack of regular exercises and the lack of equipment.

• The Austrian Comradeship Association therefore demands once again the immediate reintroduction of mandatory militia exercises at least every 2 years for 10 days each and mandatory time off for exercises in return for compensation.
• The Austrian Comradeship Association is calling for the legally necessary increase in the duration of basic military service from 6 months to 6 + 2 – i.e. 6 months of basic military service, 2 months of mandatory militia exercises.
• The Austrian Comradeship Association urgently demands that the militiamen, i.e. our “citizens in uniform”, be equipped quickly and in a targeted manner for their diverse tasks.
• The Austrian Comradeship Association firmly welcomes the increase in the defense budget and the targeted armament of the entire Federal Army that is currently underway.
