In 2025, the laboratory registered two new patents granted in the USA, put an important AI development platform on the Internet and received a GOCCO Gold Award.
Cognizant (Nasdaq: CTSH) announced today that his Off-and-lab Get two new US patents and a gold award for a research paper on the subject of “Realizing Human Expertise Through Ai” (human expertise by AI), which this month on the GECCO (Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference) was introduced in Malaga, Spain.
“The granting of two new US patents in the first half of 2025-with which the total number of patents of our AI laboratory in the USA increases to 59 and 23 other patents-underlines our tireless innovation pace,” said Babak Hodjat, technical director of AI at Cognizer. “Together with the Gold Award of the Gecco, these milestones reflect our great commitment to the development of innovative AI technologies and the implementation of pioneering ideas into practice.”
The two latest patents show important innovations from Cognizant in AI research:
- Das US-patent nr. 12,282,845 (granted on April 22, 2025) includes a method for multi-objective Coevolution of Deep Neural Network Architectures (multi-objective koevolution of deep neuronal network architectures), which aims to improve model performance and resource efficiency. The application of the procedure ranges from the classification of medical images to the processing of natural language.
- The US patent No. 12,292,944 (granted on May 6, 2025) describes a method for optimizing loss functions by Taylor Series expansion, which aims to improve the training efficiency and increase the robustness of the model, especially in scenarios with limited data. 1
These innovations that cognizant researchers like Dr. Jason Liang, Dr. Elliot Meyerson and Professor Risto MiiKkulainen were developed, underpin the leading role of cognizant in the development of the borders of AI and machine learning.
In order to make the promise of artificial intelligence accessible both practical and wider, the AI laboratory from Cognizant has its Neuro Ai Multi-Agent Accelerator Released. Neuro AI helps companies to accelerate the development and use of AI agents and to transform their business processes for adaptive processes, real-time decisions and personalized customer experiences that are tailored to the goals defined by the customer and the overview.
The AI laboratory of Cognizant, which opened its flagship under the AI research facilities in San Francisco in March 2024, was on the GECCO 2025 also with the Gold Award for Human-Competitive Results for his groundbreaking work to RHEA (Realizing Human Expertise Through Ai). Rhea was made by Dr. Elliott Meyerson and Professor Risto MiiKkulainen developed and uses evolutionary AI to have to distill and re -combine hundreds of models created by human experts – especially those that were submitted to the Xprice Pandemic Response Challenge. In a strict evaluation, Rhea exceeded the performance of individual human contributions and realized the latent potential even in incompletely developed human ideas, which led to innovative recommendations for pandemic policy. This milestone underlines the leading role of cognizant when using the global human expertise in order to advance AI solutions from the next generation.
Risto MiiKkulainen, Vice President of Research and Professor of Computer Science at Ut Austin, said: “Rhea is a strong example of how evolutionary AI can strengthen global human intelligence – not only by comparing the solutions from experts, but by going beyond them to discover new, highly effective strategies. underlines the promise of the population -based AI as the basis for solving the most complex challenges in the world. “
