ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS start coalition negotiations to form a joint government. Federal Chancellor and ÖVP leader Karl Nehammer announced this at a press conference on Monday. He spoke of an “alliance of reason and the political center”. The outcome of the “deep government negotiations” is open. Nehammer emphasized that he had noticed “the will to work together” in both the SPÖ and the NEOS. Babler emphasized: “All three of us don’t have to work together, we want to work together. We want a coalition with the population.” Meinl-Reisinger sounded very similar: “We want to express our common will today.”
