New Green Club Guide: Save operating costs with sustainable measures

Vienna (OTS) The new Green Club Guide offers all club managers and organizers valuable tips on how easy-to-implement measures can not only protect the climate, but also save money – from more sustainable bar operations, less waste and green electricity, to LED lighting on the dance floor and efficient ventilation and heating.

“This guide is another important contribution that proves that events, sustainability and climate protection are not contradictions, but can be very well combined,” emphasizes Vienna City Councilor for Climate Jürgen Czernohorszky. “If these measures also help the organizers to save costs, the path to climate neutrality will ultimately become a win-win situation.”

“In Vienna there is a growing and diverse range of innovative club culture, event locations and music venues. This means that the scene is not only a relevant economic factor and an attractive offer in city tourism, but also has high potential in the areas of sustainability and climate protection. With the Green Guide from the Vienna Club Commission, we are supporting the Vienna club scene in recognizing the business opportunities surrounding the environment and climate and implementing them sustainably for their own company success,” says City Councilor for Economic Affairs Peter Hanke.

Climate protection and ecological sustainability

With an ecologically sustainable design, the company’s CO2 emissions can be significantly reduced and the Vienna club scene can actively shape the climate-neutral city. The Green Club Guide Vienna was developed by the Vienna Club Commission with the support of the City of Vienna – Environmental Protection and OekoBusiness Vienna. It gives tips in eight areas of action on how easy-to-implement measures can not only protect the climate, but also save energy and operating costs. For each field of action there is a checklist with recommendations and an article with additional information.

The Green Club Guide makes research easier and clears up some myths surrounding the topics of energy efficiency and ecological action in the club and event sector. Information on existing advisory services and funding programs helps to implement implementation measures.

Diverse Viennese club culture

The Viennese club scene is an essential part of the cultural offering in Vienna. Over 100 locations offer a wide range – from artistically sophisticated niche events to curated mainstream programs. As socially, culturally and economically relevant places, the Viennese clubs are important multipliers for social activation in order to bring about changes in the sense of ecological sustainability. This means they have everything they need to act as a platform and role model for positive change towards a climate-friendly world.
