Zentiva is proud to announce an important step forward in its sustainability strategy with the official validation of its goals through the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTI).
By determining short and long-term goals for reducing greenhouse gases (THG) in accordance with the SBTI, Zentiva underlines its commitment to sustainability and organizes its roadmap for decarbonization at the goal of the European Union to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
These goals are based on the SBTI method, which ensures that the climate goals of the companies match the latest findings in climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement. In contrast to the assertion of carbon neutrality that can rely on compensations, the SBTI demands that they strive for profound emission reductions of up to 90 % before they tackle the remaining emissions through carbon mining.
- Overall net zero goal: Zentiva undertakes not to cause greenhouse gas emissions in the entire value chain by 2050.
- Short -term goals: Zentiva undertakes to reduce the absolute SCOPE-1 and SCOPE-2-DHG emissions by 63 % (starting from a base year 2021) and the SCOPE-3-HT emissions by 63 % (starting from a base year 2024).
- Long -term goals: Zentiva undertakes to reduce the absolute THG emissions according to SCOPE 1 and 2 to 2050 by 90 %, based on a base year 2021, and the THG emissions according to SCOPE 3 by 90 % by 2050, starting from a base year 2024.
