– Building a Chinese-European cooperation for a green and low-carbon future
On the occasion of two historical milestones, the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relationships between China and the EU and the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement, the Climate Challenge (Hainan Baoting) – Europe Outreach Event was successfully carried out on June 26. The event was organized by the popular government of the Autonomous Baoting Li and Miao of the province of Hainan, VR. Over 100 representatives of more than 80 institutions from China and Europe took part in the event. Six important Chinese-European cooperation projects were signed, and the first group of the Climate Challenge projects that came into the closer election was presented as part of live road shows, which gave the green and low-carbon innovation and cooperation between China and Europe.
China and Europe jointly research new paths for a green and low -carbon development
The China-EU (Baoting) Green and Digital Innovation Zone serves as a test area for climate-resistant sustainable development models in coastal and island regions as part of the cooperation between China and the EU. It is intended as a demonstration area for the UNFCCC “Declaration on Climate and Health”. The climate challenge aims to find innovative climate solutions for developmental challenges in four focus areas: proactive health, sustainable architecture, 1.5-degree lifestyle and sustainable agriculture and nutrition.
Mr. Xie Zhenhua, China’s first special representative for climate change, gave a video address in which he emphasized the urgency of improving capacity and the effectiveness of climate protection measures. It underlined the importance of synergy effects between climate measures, health industry and marine protection and emphasized the central role of national planning, local measures and international cooperation. He also emphasized the crucial role of companies and citizen participation and made suggestions for the development of the Baoting Innovation Zone, especially in areas such as the mutual recognition of standards, sustainable financing and promoting the innovative model and the standard system of BAOTING for climate and health.
Ms. Laurence Tubiana, CEO of the European Climate Foundation, confirmed the value of the Baoting Innovation Zone in a video message. She emphasized that the Baoting Innovation Zone is an example of international cooperation between China and Europe and international organizations in which several interest groups are involved. She praised Baoting County for his ambitious goal of a low -carbon development, which is to become carbon neutral by 2040, and expressed hope that this example and this experience will inspire others to find their own climate targets.
Ms. Guo Xiaolin, Minister consultant for science and technology from the Chinese embassy in France, took part in the event and held a fundamental speech. She emphasized that the Climate Challenge, which is supported by the Baoting Innovation Zone and uses Hainan’s free trade port, establishes a connection to the European innovation ecosystem and focuses on key areas such as green energy, intelligent agriculture, ecological tourism and low -carbon technologies. The initiative aims to develop scalable and replicable models for green development and to serve as a wide platform for Chinese-European cooperation in the areas of environment and low carbon emissions.

Project road shows mark the beginning of a new chapter in the green and low-carbon cooperation
Chinese and European institutions signed important cooperation agreements on the subject of the climate and sustainable development and thus laid a solid basis for cooperation in the areas of green and carbon low. The first group of projects that came into the closer election as part of the Climate Challenge (Hainan Baoting) – Europe Outreach Event was presented on site on site. This includes:
