Clear demands on the new Austrian government for 2025
Austria (OTS) –

AUGE/UG Carinthia expects clear and socially just measures from the new Austrian government for the coming year. Our main demands include:

No higher retirement age, but fair access to a pension without deductions:

480 months of insurance should be sufficient for all employees, regardless of whether they are workers, employees or civil servants.

The opportunity to voluntarily work longer hours must be maintained, but must not be compulsory.

No more untrue claims and economic fake news:

Working people, whether in the construction industry or in the office, are not responsible for the Austrian budget situation.

Instead, we demand an honest discussion and measures such as the introduction of a wealth tax and a machinery tax, which have long been on the AUGE/UG agenda.

No new tax increases for the general population:

Immediate rent control for the next four years.

No further increases in food. Here we refer to the Chamber of Labor’s comparison between Austria and Germany, which shows the sometimes excessive cost increases.

Measures against skyrocketing energy costs and favoritism for the super-rich.

Tax fairness:

Re-increase in corporate tax and income tax for top earners. These measures could make a significant contribution to balancing the state budget – without placing the burden on the shoulders of employees.

We appeal to the new government to finally implement socially just and sustainable measures. It must not be the case that working people bear the brunt of budget restructuring while assets and large companies are spared.
