Awarding of the security prize from the “Competence Center for Safe Austria” to courageous people from Vorarlberg
Vienna (OTS) – The security award ceremony from the “Competence Center for Safe Austria” (KSÖ) took place at the ORF Landesfunkhaus Vorarlberg in Dornbirn on the evening of June 24, 2024. Eleven people from Vorarlberg were honored for their outstanding achievements and support for the Vorarlberg police.
Courage and commitment
The winning cases were diverse and reflected the broad spectrum of challenges that the courageous award winners faced. From preventing a burglary to providing assistance in the event of physical injuries to defusing an acute threatening situation – each case was unique and demonstrated the courage and commitment of those honored.
Festive evening
Poetry slammer Lukas Wagner opened the evening with a special performance on the theme of “civil courage”. Host and ORF regional director Markus Klement welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of civil courage, for which ORF Vorarlberg is happy to provide a stage in all of its media. In a conversation with Christiane Schwald-Pösel from ORF Vorarlberg, State Police Director Hans-Peter Ludescher, Chamber of Commerce President and KSÖ Chairman Wilfried Hopfner and State Security Councilor Christian Gantner encouraged not to look away in dangerous situations, praised the award winners for their courage and thanked them for the very good cooperation between the safety organizations rescue, fire brigade and police. The event was accompanied musically by the Vorarlberg Police Music.

Also present were State Parliament Vice President Sandra Schoch, district captains Gernot Längle (Bregenz) and Herbert Burtscher (Feldkirch), State Police Director Deputy Walter Filzmaier and Gerhard Ellensohn, Uta Bachmann (Head of State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism), Janine Gozzi (CEO Red Cross Vorarlberg), VN editor-in-chief Isabel Russ, Michael Alge (Chairman of the Raiffeisenlandesbank), State Court President Angelika Prechtl-Marte, Martina Schönherr (Head of the Interior and Security Department for the State of Vorarlberg), child and youth advocate Christian Netzer and the German police chief Claudia Strößner (Schwaben Süd) with Werner Strößner (General Secretary of the Safe Allgäu Board of Trustees).
