Sudden cardiac death can affect anyone and everyone. Quick intervention by laypeople and a functioning rescue chain can mean the all-important minutes between life and death. “In Vienna, we have made it our goal to declare war on cardiac arrest and to make Vienna the HEART-safest city in Europe,” says Mayor Dr. Michael Ludwig. “Thanks to this idea, numerous measures have already been taken – now we want to appeal to the population again, because only participation guarantees success.” “The rescue chain for cardiac arrest is already unique in Vienna and I am very proud of it. “Nevertheless, everyone’s help is needed – because each and every individual can unexpectedly become a lifesaver,” adds Ludwig. “In addition to the Vienna professional rescue service, we have already actively involved the police, fire brigade, parking enforcement and many helpers via the lifesaver app. But all of us together never tire of calling for collective action.”

“Shout-squeeze-shock – a Defi makes the heart race” – this is the motto under which the PULS association’s new campaign can now be seen everywhere in Vienna. “Thanks to the support of the City of Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna as well as many other partners, we are very successful in creating a dense network of helpers,” says PULS President Harry Copytz. “My special thanks also go to GEWISTA managing director Franz Solta and Marco Lumsden from the Lumsden&Friends agency for the opportunity to present the campaign to the public comprehensively and over a longer period of time.”

“It is important to convey how easy it is to help,” emphasizes Dr. Mario Krammel, chief medical officer for professional rescue services in Vienna. “In the event of a cardiac arrest, the probability of survival drops by ten percent per minute, and after around three minutes the first irreparable damage begins to appear in the brain. The first aid measures are simple: according to our saying “Call-Push-Shock”, call the emergency number 144, then press firmly and quickly into the middle of the chest and deploy a Defi as quickly as possible.”

“’Shout-Squeeze-Shock’ a message goes viral – that would certainly be the optimal outcome,” says Priv.Doz. Dr.Dr. Sebastian Schnaubelt, Managing President of the PULS Association. “The secret to resuscitation is simple: it’s about the time that elapses until appropriate resuscitation measures are taken. In the event of a cardiac arrest, rapid intervention is important. And everyone can do that. Thanks to the defibrillator network, first responders can access one of the now numerous public defibrillators at any time in order to be able to provide even quicker and more targeted help.”

Operating a layman’s defi is as easy as jump-starting an engine. The new subject of the Puls association stages exactly this fact spectacularly with a heart that was illustrated as an engine. Perfect for the out-of-home area, the motif attracts everyone’s attention and gets to the heart of the simple but life-saving message. And never forget in an emergency: Call – Push – Shock!

The fight against sudden cardiac death is a particular concern of Gewista, which is why the company is once again providing advertising space free of charge. In doing so, she makes a significant contribution to bringing the message of PULS to the people – day and night, year after year. PULS owes the new campaign design to the advertising agency Lumsden & Friends, which has already won several awards, including for a previous PULS campaign. Every year she develops several artistic and innovative design ideas and accompanies PULS throughout the entire selection process until the new campaign design has been found and every wish has been fulfilled.
