After the successful premiere of the “Artist in Residence” program for literature in Waidhofen/Ybbs with Marlen Mairhofer as the first city clerk, the tender is now continued. From March, German -speaking literates can again apply for the scholarship. The application deadline runs until May 22, 2025.
With this unique project, the city of Waidhofen/Ybbs in cooperation with the Kulturzetzenung Niederösterreich GmbH and with the support of the state of Lower Austria to live in Waidhofen for six months from September 1, 2025 with the support of the state of Lower Austria.
Residence, Mentoring, Stipendium
For the city clerk, an apartment is available in the impulse district of Waidhofen – the new cultural center around the historic Bürgerpital and the Bürgerspitalskirche. An inspiring atmosphere for creative work and exchange with the local cultural scene is created here. The apartment is not accessible. The renowned writer Evelyn Schlag again takes on the mentoring role. During the stay, the city clerk receives a monthly scholarship of 1,200 euros, financed by the state of Lower Austria.
“After the great response to the first edition, we will continue to put the ‘Artist in Residence’ program with pleasure. Waidhofen has a long literary tradition that we further strengthen with this initiative,” emphasizes Mayor Werner Krammer.
Application
Interested writers are invited to send their complete application documents to the cultural networking of Lower Austria by May 22, 2025 at the latest. Required documents:
– a letter of motivation with the goals for the stay
– a résumé including previous literary work
– A specific project proposal for the time in Waidhofen/Ybbs
– a sample
