“Citizen’s Attorney”: No reimbursement for special treatment of open wounds

On April 6th at 6 p.m. on ORF 2

Vienna (OTS) Peter Resetarits will present the following contributions in the program “Citizens’ Lawyer” on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 6 p.m. on ORF 2:

No reimbursement for special treatment of open wounds

After playing with her little puppy, Ms. F. had a small wound on her heel that didn’t heal. Visits to the family doctor, then to the dermatologist and to the hospital did not bring any improvement in the condition. When there was already talk of an impending amputation, the treatment method that led to healing was found in so-called “wound management”. However, the costs for this – several thousand euros – are not covered by the health insurance companies. Ombudsman Bernhard Achitz is calling for a change in the law so that treatments by “wound managers” can also be paid for.

Criticism of rat control. Are strictly protected animals threatened by this?

In Vienna, property owners are obliged to combat the risk of “rat infestation”. This is often done with rat bait boxes. However, this also means that strictly protected field hamsters are repeatedly killed. This is again forbidden according to the Vienna Nature Conservation Act. Ombudsman Bernhard Achitz called for the regulations to be adjusted at the end of 2022 in “Citizens’ Lawyer”. How did the city react?

Door-to-door sales

Ms. T. from Vienna is 77 years old and suffers from dementia. Last year, two supposedly valuable reprints of old books were sold to her at a door-to-door sale by a German company for more than 20,000 euros. Because she couldn’t pay for the books immediately, she was also given a loan. According to an appraiser, the books are actually not worth much, criticizes Ms. T’s daughter and adult representative. Will she get the money back? In the studio, Ms. T.’s lawyer discusses things with, among others, the credit broker’s lawyer.

Injured through no fault of your own – When does the at-fault driver’s insurance pay for consequential damage?

Ms. M. was seriously injured in a car accident that was not her fault. To this day she still suffers from the consequences of this head-on collision, which changed her life forever. She is unable to work and desperate. Although the liability insurance of the other party in the accident must also cover all long-term consequences of the accident, there are regularly conflicts about which pain, therapies or treatments result from the accident. After a discussion in “Citizen’s Advocate”, is there a solution?
