From June 16 to 19, 2025, Huawei presented the latest functions of his Intelligent Distribution Solution (IDS) at this year’s Congrès International of the Réseaux Electriques de Distribution (Cired 2025). As one of the most influential communication platforms in the area of global energy distribution, the Cired 2025 129 companies and 2,654 industry experts and visitors from 72 countries, who networked and participated in technical workshops. During the event, Huawei announced new functions for the IDS and presented its latest achievements in the field of global digital sales with the aim of digitally enabling future sales networks.
In recent years, electricity distribution networks worldwide have been faced with challenges such as frequent power failures, low network resilience, outdated infrastructure and limited use of renewable energies. In addition, the spread of decentralized photovoltaics and charging stations for electric vehicles increases rapidly. Operation and the maintenance of electricity networks are traditionally under pressure.
In order to solve these problems, the IDS of Huawei uses the “Cloud Pipe-Edge-Pipe-Device” architecture and integrates IKTS such as the High-Speed-Power Line-Carrier (HPLC) and the EDGE-Computing-Unit (ECU), which enable transparent detection and proactive activities. This enables customers to shorten the response time to disorders, increase the resistance of the distribution network against extreme natural events and increase the satisfaction of the users. So far, the IDS has been used to a large extent in China and tested by more than 20 power supply companies all over the world. In the Asian-Pacific area, the IDS has contributed to shortening the time for the detection of power failures to a maximum of two minutes and reducing the number of line failures by around 20 %.
During the fair, Huawei presented a tailor-made new IDS function, with which the problem of non-visible, non-measurable and non-adjustable devices and environments in the power distribution room is to be solved. With AI and IoT sensors, an all-weather environmental network for power distribution rooms is built up, which delivers real-time warnings around the clock. With the help of the efficient data processing and real-time reaction ability of AI, timely warnings about environmental risks and preventive maintenance measures for systems can be carried out, which becomes a passive proactive management. This helps customers to cope with the effects of extreme weather events on the power supply, increase the reliability of the power supply and at the same time extends the service life of the equipment.
During the Cired 2025, Huawei organized the IDS Rump Sessionto share his practical experience in working with partners and to support customers in the digital and intelligent transformation of distribution networks. As a long -standing supporter of international standards in the area of energy distribution, Huawei took part in the 5th meeting of the IEEE P 2413.2 Working Group. The aim was to promote the standardization and international development of the energy industry, to promote the development of distribution communication networks and to solve the two global technical problems of the medium-voltage backhaul and the 400 V Recovery transparency.
With the publication of new IDS functions, Huawei deepens the technological innovation and practical applications in this area to support customers in implementing a transparent management of 400 V button voltage devices.
