After the body of a young woman is recovered from Lake Mattsee, the two cops look into “dark water” for more than just their job. The search for clues takes them deep into the dark history of the place – and to their private boundaries. In addition to Christoph Luser and Salka Weber, other roles in the ORF/ZDF feature film in Mattsee and the city of Salzburg included Fritz Karl, Erwin Steinhauer, Anna Tenta, Marie Faistauer, Emilia Leytner, Nikolaus Lessky, Peter Mitterrutzner, Susanne Michel and Thomas Mraz in front of the camera. Christoph Luser: “Character who doesn’t make it easy for the viewer to follow him and be on his side”

Neo-investigator Christoph Luser on his first country crime thriller assignment: “It is a particular pleasure and honor for me to be part of the country crime series, which is highly praised nationally, but also in German-speaking countries, for its courageous independence, with such a multi-layered and exciting He says about his role: “Dorner is an argumentative and awkward character who doesn’t make it easy for the viewer to follow him and be on his side. He has many secrets. But that’s exactly what makes it so interesting.”

Salka Weber: “important to portray our diverse society authentically on television”

“Alex Fink is a self-confident, determined and empathetic investigator. Nothing upsets her so quickly. In ‘Dark Water’ I was the first black woman to take on an investigator role in the country crime series and I’m really proud of that. Thanks to the two directors Arman T. and Arash T. Riahi, Alex Fink moves through this world quite naturally. At no time are their origins or their Austrian roots questioned or ‘explained’, and if so only to highlight existing prejudices and disarm them with humor. I think it’s incredibly important to authentically portray our diverse society on television.”

More about the content

The body of a 17-year-old is pulled out of Lake Mattsee. Chief Inspector Dorner (Christoph Luser), who grew up in the town of the same name, takes on the case. But since he has attracted negative attention several times on duty after a traumatic experience, the young investigator Alex (Salka Weber) is assigned to him as a “guardian”. The case quickly becomes personal for Dorner: the dead woman is the daughter of his childhood friend. Alex is not very comfortable with his closeness to those involved, but it also brings advantages. One of the suspects is petty criminal Max Kozak (Thomas Mraz), who Dorner is convinced was the murderer in his very first case. But this could never be proven. During an interrogation, a terrible incident occurs that calls everything into question. Dorner not only has to delve into his own past, but also deal with Mattsee’s dark history. And there are a few things he’s not telling Alex, who is becoming increasingly suspicious. But from the dark waters of Mattsee the truth will emerge…
