“Childish hiccups between the ÖGK and the Dental Association are to the detriment of the patients”
Vienna (OTS) –

“The particularly embarrassing and childish hiccup between the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) and the Dental Association only serves a few ‘vain peacocks’ and certainly not the patients. Both have an obligation to reach an agreement before the turn of the year in order to guarantee patients adequate security of care,” demanded the liberal health spokesman NAbg today. Mag. Gerhard Kaniak.

“It can’t be the case that patients have to pay for their treatment in advance in order to perhaps and possibly receive reimbursement at some point. This cannot be a viable option, especially for people with lower incomes. Dental costs are expensive and not affordable for many,” says Kaniak.

Our health system has to serve the patients and not itself, emphasized Kaniak, who also took the incumbent Green Health Minister Rauch to task: “Where is Minister Rauch in this matter, who has missed this issue from the start. Instead of looking after his own ministry, the agendas of his Green colleague Zadic in matters of representation are probably more important to him, knowing full well that he has already failed as social and health minister.”

“A rapid adoption of one of the existing alternatives to amalgam as a health insurance benefit must urgently take place these days, not for the chamber, not for the ÖGK and not for Rauch, but solely for all patients who ultimately finance our health system. It is high time for this system of overpaid chamberlains and officials to be reformed for the benefit of taxpayers,” emphasized Kaniak.
