Defense Minister Tanner: “With Bruno Hofbauer we now have one of the best in his field at the head of our army.”
Vienna (OTS) – As of December 28, 2023, Major General Bruno Günter Hofbauer was appointed as Deputy Chief of General Staff. He prevailed in an application process against five other high-ranking officers and will therefore soon be appointed head of the Capabilities and Policy Planning Directorate in the General Staff, which he has headed on an interim basis since 2021, and thus as Deputy Chief of the General Staff.
Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner: “I am very pleased that, in Bruno Günter Hofbauer, we have appointed one of those officers as deputy chief of staff who were and continue to be instrumental in the further development of the Federal Army into a future-fit, modern army. With him we have one of the best in his field at the head of our army. With the creation of the 2032+ recovery plan, he has already proven several times that he is one of the most capable officers in our army.”
Chief of General Staff Rudolf Striedinger: “It is a joy and honor to have such a capable comrade at my side. With his skills and experience, we will be able to implement the 2032+ recovery plan even better and faster.
