After five successful years, the passionate cook Renate Zierler is now dedicating her charity campaign “Chefs Cook” to the Austrian Cancer Aid. Zierler, himself at the University. At the Radiotherapy Clinic at the LKH-Graz, it is important to support cancer patients with this successful charity. The 2025 campaign has now started in the Palais Coburg with numerous prominent guests.
“With our ‘Chefs Cooking for Children’ initiative, we brought in almost €250,000 for the SOS Children’s Villages,” says Renate Zierler happily at the kickoff of the 2025 campaign. “After 5 years, I would like to give something back to my professional field and dedicate the proceeds to the charity to help cancer patients.” The Austrian Cancer Aid, which is celebrating its 115th anniversary this year, is very pleased about this new initiative: “The ‘Chefs Cook’ campaign is not only extremely friendly, but also shows that with enjoyment you can make an important contribution to solidarity for all those people who are currently in an exceptional situation, such as the diagnosis of cancer,” explains Univ. Prof. Dr. Paul Sevelda, President of the Austrian Cancer Aid. Today he took over the symbolic relay for the new charity round from the SOS Children’s Villages.
Gourmet dishes for a good cause
The idea behind the campaign is simple: every month a new restaurant serves a dish to benefit the Austrian Cancer Aid. True to the motto “The way to love your neighbor is through your stomach: for the love of enjoyment.” Part of the income that the restaurants earn from the sale of the selected dish within a year goes to the “Chefs Cook” campaign for cancer aid.
It starts with the award-winning restaurant “Goldader” in Tamsweg. For managing director Rupert Pagitsch, who has been supporting Renate Zierler for a long time, it is a given that he will be there again this year: “It was immediately clear to us that we would be involved in Renate’s charity project again this time. In these very hectic times, we often forget about the really important things in life – health. The greatest good in life is that you are healthy and therefore it is very important to us to support the people who are not feeling so well with this campaign and to be able to make a small contribution to the Austrian Cancer Aid, of course being the first restaurant to start this year special honor.”
In February, Harald Irka will join us with his rectory in St. Andrä im Sausal. He also dedicates a dish to the “Chefs Cook for Cancer Aid” campaign. The participating restaurants are listed online at www.krebshilfe.net/koeche-kochen listed.
Six strong women as sponsors of the campaign
Patron Renate Zierler brings together six women as strong sponsors of the campaign: journalist and author Martina Hohenlohe, presenter Silvia Schneider, chocolatier Eveline Wild, sommelier Sonja Rauch, host Bettina Thaller and cancer charity CEO Martina Löwe. They all support Renate Zierler and spread the idea of doing something good with enjoyment. “It is an honor for me to have such impressive, strong women at my side.” Zierler thanks the concentrated female power.
Culinary companies as sponsors
Krebshilfe is particularly pleased that, in addition to the participating restaurants, local businesses from the gourmet and food industries have already joined the campaign as sponsors:
The Lower Austrian company Herbeus Greens (www.herbeusgreens.com), which is considered a pioneer in vertical indoor farming, donates its cress cartons to the campaign and donates to cancer aid for every carton sold. Also with the organic herbal oils from Kraidlzieh (www.kreidlzeig.at) the campaign is supported: the company donates every bottle of organic herbal oil sold to the cancer charity.
“It’s incredible to see how many supporters have already come together for this initiative in a very short time,” says Godmother and CEO of the cancer charity, Mag. Martina Löwe. “This is mainly thanks to the commitment and positive energy of Renate Zierler. We look forward to an exciting culinary year with her!”
