As part of the Sportunion Presidium meeting on Friday, September 12th in Salzburg, Chancellor Minister Claudia Plakolm, responsible for Europe, integration and family, took over the function of the Vice President of the Sports Union. The 30-year-old native of Upper Austrian succeeds Karoline Edtstadler, who has been in office since July 2, as the Governor of Salzburg.
Peter McDonald: “A great asset to the sports union”
Sportunion President Peter McDonald emphasized after the election: “I am very pleased that we were able to win a committed, young and experienced personality for the office of Vice President with Claudia Plakolm. Her expertise in the areas of youth, family and Europe, but in particular her passion for sport is a great enrichment for the sports union. The unanimous choice is shown. Claudia. Plakolm will set important impulses for the promotion of children and adolescents as well as for the international networking of sport and will continue to fight the path of its predecessor Karoline Edtstadler. ”

Claudia Plakolm explained on the occasion of her choice: “Sport is more than movement, sport. This is exactly what the sports union for all generations. It is particularly evident in the club how well integration can be done: When children and adolescents of different origins are in the same team, they learn respect, fairness and team spirit – values that are important far beyond sport. And as a vice -president, I would like to help you to make more young people visible.
Karoline Edtstadler: “Sportunion a strong partner of sport”
The Salzburg Governor and previous Vice President Karoline Edtstadler also congratulated: “The Sportunion has been a strong partner of sport in Austria for many years. I am pleased that with Claudia Plakolm, a committed young woman takes on this important function. Together with Peter McDonald and the entire Presidium, she will keep impulses so that sports clubs will remain in the encounter and cohesion.” At the end of the Sportunion Presidium, President McDonald expressed his thanks to Karoline Edtstadler: “Thank you for your many years of support and I am pleased that the good cooperation between Sportunion and the State of Salzburg will also continue in her new function as a governor.”
