The Austrian Chamber of Agriculture (ÖLAKT) announces the sad news that its long -time chairman and president of the Styria Chamber of Agriculture, Christian Mandl, died on Thursday, February 20, 2025 after a short, serious illness in the 76th year.
As a trained agricultural engineer and agricultural champion, Christian Mandl was first elected as a chamber council in the General Assembly of the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture in 1983. In 1988 he moved to the board and held the office of Vice President from 1999. In May 2000, the appeal to the President of the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture followed. As President, he was also involved in the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture, whose chair was elected in 2007 and whose skills he led until 2016.
One of his most important concerns was always the profound training and further education of young people in agriculture and forestry. Christian Mandl successfully campaigned for the establishment of a federal apprenticeship and specialist training center, as the chairman he also acted.
He was instrumental in the foundation of the Forest competition association Austria and, thanks to his activities, laid the foundation for the successful professional teams of the forest in Austria.
