CGTN: This is how China’s modernization opens up new opportunities for the world

Peking (ots/PRNewswire) The modernization of China is a goal that the Chinese people have pursued for generations in continually evolving paths.

In 2023, the country entered its first full year of implementing the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and charted a course for the next stage of China’s modernization journey.

“Chinese Modernization, Global Opportunities” is a special interactive page launched by CGTN that details China’s domestic development and international contribution in 2023 with visual effects and in-depth narratives.

Strong focus on China’s modernization

In 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping conducted 14 domestic inspections, issued detailed plans and instructions during each visit, and urged relentless efforts to advance China’s modernization based on local needs.

Development was the most frequently mentioned keyword during Xi’s inspection tours, reflecting an intense focus on the goal of advancing China’s modernization.

Xi stressed the need for the areas he visited to fully implement the new development concept and stressed the importance of focusing on promoting high-quality development and building a new development scheme.

According to an analysis by CGTN, in addition to development, innovation, technology, modernization, ecology, culture, people, economy, quality and safety are the other key words and expressions used by Xi during his visits.

Guided by the goals set out in its development plan, China remained a leading growth engine for the global economy in 2023. The International Monetary Fund had forecast China’s economy would grow 5.4 percent in 2023, in line with the global forecast pace.

Development dividends shared with the world

In 2023, China promoted global prosperity, stability and peace by sharing with the world the dividends of development gained from modernization.

As President Xi said in his 2024 New Year’s address: “We will work closely with the international community for the common good of humanity, build a community with a shared future for humanity, and make the world a better place for all.”

At the first China-Central Asia Summit, China and the five Central Asian countries signed seven bilateral and multilateral documents and over 100 cooperation agreements in various fields.

The third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in October, the flagship celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), produced 458 outcomes, with cooperation agreements worth $97.2 billion were completed.

During their “candid and fruitful” talks in Moscow, President Xi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin outlined a plan for expanding bilateral ties. The highly anticipated Xi-Biden meeting in San Francisco played a key role in reshaping ties between the two two largest economies in the world.

To contribute to the rise of the Global South in 2023, China supported the expansion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS countries. It also initiated a series of plans to help Africa implement modernization and signed cooperation documents on the Belt and Road Initiative with all 22 Arab nations and the League of Arab States.

In March, Saudi Arabia and Iran, brokered by China, agreed to restore diplomatic relations and reopen their embassies.

China has demonstrated in word and deed that it continues to support world peace, contribute to global development and defend the international order.
