The baroque vault in the historic Ritzerbogen-Haus has been staged, original stucco ceilings were restored, and Salzburg elements such as historical street signs are now enriching the interior. “We wanted to create a place that preserves the historic charm of Höllrigl and at the same time offers a modern space for browsing and discovering literature”
explains Klaus Magele, Managing Director of Morawa Buch single trade. “The opening is an important step to prepare the bookstore for the future and at the same time emphasize our connection to tradition.”
Varied program for young and old
As part of the opening week from February 19th to 22nd, various authors for readings and signing lessons are guests, including Herbert Dutzler, Jan Beck and Manfred Baumann, who for the first time reads from his Salzburg, which was published in August. An exciting children’s program and a competition with an exclusive shopping experience in the branch complete the program.
Höllrigl: A place of encounter
The Höllrigl bookstore combines its long history with a central location in the Salzburg city center and a diverse clientele consisting of local customers, international guests and the festival audience. This mixture contributes to a special atmosphere in which those interested in literature and culture come into discussion.
“Bookstores are places where you exchange ideas and get new impulses. They offer space for discussions and promote access to cultural issues “
says Kr Wolfgang Rick, Managing partner of Morawa. “We, as the largest Austrian book trade group, are very happy to be able to lead Höllrigl into the future as the oldest bookstore in Austria and to preserve it as a piece of history that promotes exchange and dealing with literature in the present.”
