On April 21, 2025, Catl presented three groundbreaking EV battery products on his first Super Tech Day: the Freevoy Dual Power Battery, Naxtra-the world’s first standard sodium ion battery-and the second generation’s ShenXing fast charging battery as well as an integrated 24 V start/stop-Naxtra battery for heavylaster. These revolutionary innovations break technological limits and officially lead the industry into the “Multi-Power era”.
The Freevoy Dual-Power battery has a groundbreaking cross-chemistry system design that exceeds the limits of individual technologies and thus meets the individual requirements of the users. Naxtra, the first sodium-ion battery that can be produced in mass production, breaks through the resource restrictions and strengthens the basis of the new energy industry. The second generation of the ShenXing quick load battery sets up a new world record for super-fast charging technology with its top loading of 12 C.
NAXTRA battery: break through performance limits, drive the future of energy ahead
The Catl Naxtra battery breaks through the performance limits of the material itself and enables mass production of sodium-ion batteries for the first time. Thanks to the inherent security and the extensive occurrence of sodium, it efficiently reduces the dependence on lithium resources and strengthens the basis for new energy technologies, while it also promotes energy use from the “dependence on a single resource” to “energy independence”.
The NAXTRA battery product line comprises two categories: the NAXTRA car-EV battery and the NAXTRA-24V heavy dairy battery with an integrated start-stop system. Both are able to work over the entire temperature range from -40 ° C to +70 ° C, which redefines the extreme temperature limits of batteries. The NAXTRA car-EV battery retains 90 % of the usable performance at -40 ° C. Even with an extremely low load of only 10 % SOC, the NAXTRA battery for electric vehicles at a temperature of -40 ° C has no significant reduction in performance.
The CATL NAXTRA car-EV battery reaches an energy density of 175Wh/kg, the highest among the sodium-ion batteries worldwide and comparable to LFP batteries. It offers a range of 500 kilometers and can achieve over 10,000 cycles, which significantly reduces the maintenance costs. In terms of security, the Naxtra battery eliminates combustion-promoting factors at the material level and thus achieves a groundbreaking breakthrough from “passive security” to “self-security”.
The integrated start-stop battery Naxtra 24V for heavy truck from Catl has a lifespan of over 8 years. Compared to conventional lead-acid batteries, it lowers the overall life cycle costs by 61 %. This product offers unique advantages, including a deep discharge over the entire capacity, start with a click at -40 ° C and the ability to start standing up again after one year. Compared to lead-acid batteries, it is more efficient, more environmentally friendly and more economical and leads commercial vehicles into a lead-free era in which the vehicle and battery grow old.
This significant breakthrough of CATL in the performance of sodium-ion batteries has closed the gap when using batteries in extremely cold environments. The breakthrough in the performance of sodium-ion batteries is an important development for the use of batteries in all scenarios. This is how the Freevoy Dual-Power Battery from Catl was created.
Freevoy dual-power battery: ring in the multi-power age of energy freedom
The Freevoy Dual-Power is a groundbreaking product that deeply integrates the dual power architecture of CATL and the self-shaped anodent technology. The dual power architecture means that the battery package has two powerful “independent energy zones” that enable five double functions: double high voltage, double low voltage, double structure, double heat management and double thermal overflow protection ensure the continuity, stability and safety of the power output. This dual power design and the innovative integration of software ensure a more stable and reliable power supply for vehicles in the upcoming era of autonomous driving of levels L3 and L4.
The “self -image anodent technology” represents a groundbreaking breakthrough at the nuclear level, which can increase the volume energy density of the battery by 60 % and the gravimetric energy density by 50 %. This also means that more power can be accommodated on the same place for the battery package, which enables a greater range. This technology can be flexibly paired with different material systems, and in combination with NCM systems, the energy density can be increased to over 1000Wh/l.
The “dual electrical range extension technology” developed by the Freevoy Dual-Power battery can intuitively regulate the allocation strategy of the two energy zones based on the driving condition of the vehicle and the driving habits of the users. Depending on the driving habits and scenarios of the users, the main energy zone of the dual power battery can use different chemical systems of the battery cells and thus cover the daily driving requirement. The range extension zone can use a self -shaped anodent technology with high specific energy in order to provide a greater capacity for the long -distance needs of the users.
Three dual power solutions for various chemical systems were released on site:
- Sodium-LFP dual power battery-it combines Naxtra with an LFP battery with self-shaped anode and fully uses the low-temperature performance of sodium-ion technology to offer users an extraordinary experience that is characterized by excellent properties in the cold and a larger reach.
- LFP-LFP dual-power battery-it connects the second generation shenxing super-fast-speed battery with the self-shaped anode battery LFP. In limousines with a wheelbase of 3 meters, it can easily be achieved 1,000 kilometers of purely electrical reach, which reduces the costs per kilometer to only 0.1 Yuan.
- NCM-LFP/NCM-NCM-DUAL-POWER battery-it integrates an NCM battery with an LFP battery with self-shaped anode and reaches a lace loader of 12 C for the NCM battery in the main energy sector, which provides an output of over 1 megawatts. Even if the SOC drops to 20 %, it can still perform an output of over 600 kW. The further developed version of the product, consisting of an NCM battery and an NCM self-education anode battery, enables a capacity of more than 180 kWh in limousines with a wheelbase of 3 meters and breaks through the limit of 1,500 kilometers of purely electrical reach.
The Freevoy Dual-Power-EV battery from CATL focuses on the needs of users. It enables the “cooperation and mutual addition” of various chemical systems and thus overcomes the technical obstacles that prevent adaptation of individual chemical systems to all scenarios. This enables tailor -made battery power in various cost segments and application scenarios.
The innovative architecture of Dual Power to Multi Power will not be limited to the area of electric passenger cars, but will also be used in all other areas such as electric buses, heavy loads, aircraft, ships as well as industrial and commercial applications and thus accelerate the industrialization of renewable energies in all scenarios. At the same time, it will also accelerate the application process of top technologies such as solid -state batteries.
Second generation of the second generation of Shenxing: New Global Records set up
In 2023, Catl launched the ShenXing 4C quick load battery and heralded the era of super fast shop. With the publication of the second generation of CATL’s ShenXing battery, the limits of super-fast charging power are exceeded and new world records are set up for the charging speeds.
The second generation of CATL’s shenxing-fast loading battery is the world’s first LFP battery, which offers both a range of 800 km and a top loader of 12C. With a top loading power of 1.3 MW, it reaches a range of 2.5 kilometers per second loading time, so that waiting times are practically the past. In low temperature environments of -10 ° C, the second generation of the Shenxing quick -load battery can charge from 5 % to 80 % SOC in just 15 minutes, 100 % faster than the highest current load level in the industry.
In addition, the second generation of CATL’s shenxing fast loading battery offers a robust performance across all temperature ranges and loading states. Even in the low -charged condition, it retains an output power of 830 kW. In a demanding environment of -10 ° C with a low load, it can still meet the performance requirements for the acceleration of 0-100km/h.
The essentials of multi-power batteries are that they bring performance batteries from the “parameter-controlled” phase to the “needs-controlled” phase. CATL constantly researches and breaks through the limits of technology and heralds the age of multi -power in the new energy industry – a truly user -centered era.
