Michael Landau, long-time President of Caritas Austria and current President of Caritas Europa, was honored today by Minister of Social Affairs Johannes Rauch for his extraordinary services and received the Great Silver Medal of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria.

He knows how to build bridges where others shy away from insurmountable divides, and he has always proven that solidarity knows no boundaries. This high award is an impressive recognition of his commitment to creating a more just and humane world.”
Landau led Caritas Austria through numerous crises from 2013 to 2023 and shaped the organization with humanity, foresight and tireless commitment.

His commitment is an example of how to give people hope and strengthen solidarity in difficult times. This award is not only an appreciation of his achievements to date, but also underlines the importance of values such as human rights and solidarity, which Michael Landau is committed to,” said Tödtling-Musenbichler. “I would also like to warmly congratulate Erich Fenninger from Volkshilfe, who was awarded the Golden Medal of Honor for services to the Republic of Austria, and would like to thank him for the good cooperation!”
