Candlica and blessing via WhatsApp for the Matura examination
Vienna (OTS) –

If this year around 40,000 AHS and BHS students will take their high school exams again from May 7th, they can encourage themselves in digitally to encourage them, self-confidence and blessings and have a candle inflamed. This is made possible by the Austria -wide campaign “Be Blessed!” (German is blessed!), To which Maturants can now register free of charge at www.beblessed.at. On the exam days, a candle will be lit and prayed for you. In addition, apprentices can also have a candle for their upcoming apprenticeship examination via WhatsApp.

In addition, all registered ones receive video blessing requests via WhatsApp in the morning of the selected examination. These are spoken of among the bishops Benno Elbs, Hermann Glettler and Aegidius Zsifkovics, by Sr. Helena Fürst, pastor Toni Faber and the Protestant pastors Julia Schnizlein and Katharina Payk.

“Young people like to send a thought, a request, a prayer towards heaven. In their everyday life, they notice that they cannot make a lot of things alone immediately, such as peace, a livable earth and happiness. ‘Be blessed!’ build on these experiences by lit a candle for the Maturants and a blessing is given, “the pastoral theologist and head of the Austrian pastoral institute (public transport), Gabriele Eder-Cakl, is cited in the broadcast.

“BE Blessed!” takes place for the fourth time. In the previous year, more than 2,000 people participated, which corresponded to around five percent of all high school graduates in Austria. In the more than 6,100 candle requests sent, mathematics was the most chosen subject (85 percent of all registered), followed by German and English.

The campaign is part of the Austria-wide youth initiative “Think new” and a joint project of Catholic and Evangelical Church Austria with the participation of Archdiocese of Vienna, regulatory communities, the dioceses Eisenstadt, Feldkirch, Gurk-Klagenfurt, Graz-Seckau, Innsbruck, Linz and the Archdiocese of Salzburg.

The Catholic Church in Austria would like to come into contact with 18- to 25 year olds with the initiative. In addition to “Be Blessed!” is also the festival pastoral care at music festivals as well as cafe bikes in numerous regions and many other individual events and events projects from “Think new”.
