Lower Austria is again looking for the senior athlete in 2025. Under the honorary protection of senior citizens’ Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister, the state of honor wants to get the role models from the hobby area or from the competition in front of the curtain and choose the best performance with the award for the senior athlete and senior athlete in 2025. It has been proven that activity, movement and fitness increase the quality of life and contribute to more physical and mentally well -being. Especially in old age, sporting activities have a positive effect on a vital, fulfilling and self -determined life. People of the older generation who achieve extraordinary success in sports have a motivating effect on many others and are therefore role models. “Therefore, the state of Lower Austria would like to choose the senior athletes of the year again this year.
It is not primarily about achievements in top -class sport, but about sporting successes by older people who are provided in a group due to the joy of movement. “I call up all active and sports enthusiasts older people to apply until September 30, 2025 and to be role models for numerous other senior citizens,” said Tesch-Hofmeister.
All Lower Austrians aged 60 and over are eligible to participate with and without disabilities who have performed extraordinary sporting achievements, either by a top position at a national or international championship or through a remarkable sporting performance in the hobby area.
