Call for abstracts
Vienna (PK) –

For the third time, the Legal, Legislative and Scientific Service (RLW) of the Parliamentary Directorate of the Austrian Parliament is inviting researchers from all disciplines to present and discuss their parliament-related research on Parliamentary Research Day on June 11, 2025. After the focus was on parliamentary research itself in 2023 and the “performance” of parliaments in 2024, in 2025 the focus will be on the “time” factor under the title “What is your time? Different actors, different temporalities, different languages”. Abstracts on this topic can be submitted until March 31, 2025.

Thematic focus and submission

Political debates about, for example, climate change, pandemics or artificial intelligence show that decision-making processes are characterized by different time horizons. For example, the production of knowledge on which political solutions are based is subject to different time constraints than their implementation. Likewise, decision-makers are bound to different temporal conditions (e.g. election cycles) than those affected by their decisions. These differences can lead to problems in both implementation and communication, which pose major challenges to democratic processes and institutions.

Scientists from all disciplines at home and abroad are invited to submit abstracts on this topic to the email address parlamentsforschung@parlament.gv.at to submit. The contributions should be discussed as part of a panel or poster session on Parliamentary Research Day. For more information, see Parliamentary research | Austrian Parliament. (End) wit
