Before the past seasons, RB Leipzig always spoke a lot about the record champion from Munich. At the Red Bull Club, they always dared to play the role of the Bayern hunter. Even if it was never enough for the front, this label was not bad for the Leipzigers. This Friday is different with the opening game in Munich before this season. The new coach Ole Werner is not a man of a lot of tones anyway, and it is forbidden to squint at the seventh of the previous season.
Broken law
After the first missed European Cup qualification, RB proclaimed this Bundesliga season as one of the upheaval. This process is to take two years in which the Champions League, previously law at Red Bull, does not matter. Manager Marcel Schäfer and coach Werner only spent on wanting to go back to international business, that is, to be at least one place better than in the previous year. The demands are therefore noticeably screwed down on the Cottaweg, where they have to pause and question a lot and sort them. And there is a lot at stake: the decisions that are now made are decisive for whether RB finds back into the success of success or continues to slip into mediocrity.
The playing style is also one of the basic course that have been made. Jürgen Klopp, football boss in the Red Bull universe, and his global team set a new mission statement during the summer break, which is intended to shape the football of the Multi Club Owner at all locations. »We want to be part of the whole, but we want to be adapted to the respective situation. It is not the case that everyone has to play the same football, but there is a kind of football with which you are probably more successful than with others, ”Klopp had declared the training start when he visited Leipzig. While the coaches need freedom, according to Klopp, “sports directors, scouts and analysts have to know in which direction it goes”.
Operation on the open heart
With regard to the transfer philosophy, the group clubs continue to search for young, hungry and strong player types. In the game itself, the focus is again on intensity and activity, and after years of stagnation, Red Bull wants to resume the development once taken under Julian Nagelsmann and also reach top club levels in the combination game in the combination game.
In this respect, the coach Werner, who is committed to the search for months, is currently operating on the heart. He is supposed to re -indicate the game principle and at the same time reveal the old virtues. As Klopp once said about Borussia Dortmund and FC Liverpool, lawn ball sport will now act in the 4-3-3 system for the first time-with two wing strikers and a newly built defensive midfield. The talented entrances Yan Diomande and Johan Bakayoko as well as center forward Romulo are supposed to swirl offensive. Until this game system is handy and stable, time will pass, which has shown the tedious 4: 2 in the DFB Cup against regional league Sandhausen. But Werner is dependent on quick success, because the 37-year-old has to earn his reputation at a top club.
Important progress
In preparation, the coach let work calmly and meticulously on athletics and automatisms in all game phases. “We have to get ahead week after week,” he said. “It is about finding stability and reliability in the processes as quickly as possible under competitive situations.” The fact that the team and coaches work is not only of great importance for Werner’s career, but also for Schäfer and Klopp, at the behest of which he was obliged.
With regard to the squad, the upheaval is not even as consistent as it was originally considered. A clear cut was actually sought, but only striker Yussuf Poulsen changed from the old axis; Defense chief Willi Orbán and goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi sit in the saddle as firmly as in the ten years before. Despite their undisputed class, the two veterans are leakage models; Other actors must now jump into the breach, take responsibility and fill the newly prescribed identity with life. Because beyond the diving board players who move on after two seasons and are part of the financing model due to transfer income, a new reliable axis is needed that holds the store together. Manager Schäfer demanded a new “mindset”. But whether players like David Raum, Nicolas Seiwald, Xaver Schlager, Benjamin Henrichs and Christoph Baumgartner have the quality and mentality for it, this pioneering season must show that Bavarians do not hunt in the RB, but has to find themselves.
