On May 15, Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner congratulated the winter sports enthusiast of the Austrian Armed Forces on their outstanding achievements in the past season. The army athletes won a total of 33 individual medals and four team medals at European and World Championships last season.

With her talent, your discipline, your fairness and your team spirit, you serve as role models and inspire people far beyond sport. They show what you can achieve with hard work, passion and endurance. Austria and an impressive example for everyone who is looking for their own way to success. ”

In addition to the 37 medals for major events, the army athletes also dominated the overall World Cup. Corporal Daniel Tschofenig crowned the overall World Cup winner in the ski jump and also secured the prestigious title of the four-hill tour tour. In toboggan sports, train leaders Madeleine Egle shone with the winning of the overall World Cup in the team relay. Her sister Corporal Selina Egle triumphed together with Korporal Lara Kipp not only in the team relay, but also in the overall Double Reducer World Cup. The men’s team around Korporal Juri Gatt, train leader Wolfgang Kindl and train leader Armin Frauscher were also in the best form and won the overall World Cup in the team relay. Corporal Sophie Grill secured the overall World Cup in the Parachute-Ski, a combination of parachute jumping and giant slalom. With its eleven army performance sports centers, the army sports center has been promoting Austrian competitive sports since 1962. Every year, up to 495 people, 20 of them in disability sports, are part of the army support program. Traditionally, army sport provides numerous participants at major sporting events such as the Olympic Games as well as European and World Championships. The athletes of the Federal Army have achieved numerous successes and medals for Austria in the past.
