On Thursday, April 24, a corresponding declaration of intent by Federal Minister Klaudia Tanner and Auva General Director Alexander Bernart was signed. The goal is a nationwide medical acute care in crisis and disaster cases. A strategic deepening of the cooperation aims at closer interlinking of military and civil resources and is intended to facilitate the care of relatives of the Federal Army. In addition, strengths of both institutions are to be bundled and, for example, joint training and further education measures are to be developed.
“Both AUVA and the Armed Forces and the entire Austrian health care benefit from this cooperation. The Bundesheer has profound medical know-how, which enables AUVA even more efficiency,” said Minister of Defense Klaudia Tanner.
In the sense of efficient use of existing structures, AUVA and BMLV pursue the goal of increasing economy and at the same time reducing costs.
“Our cooperation stands for lived resilience and responsibility towards Austria. With the close exchange of knowledge and experience, we strengthen medical care, ensure competencies and make a contribution to the sustainable further development of both institutions,” emphasized Auva General Director Bernart.
A task force is set up to implement these common goals. A detailed concept of content will be worked out by summer 2025.
Auva chairman Mario Watz emphasizes: “The targeted and efficient use of existing structures and resources is an essential contribution to strengthening traumatological care. Together with the federal army, we create synergies that increase both economy and improve supply security. I am very pleased that we can provide further evidence of the performance and importance of AUVA with this future-oriented cooperation.”
With this strategic partnership, AUVA and army show how central care and security structures in Austria can be strengthened through targeted cooperation- to the benefit of society and as a contribution to the long-term resilience of the country.
