The budget deficit is expected to drop from 4.7 to 4.5 percent of GDP this year. It should be 4.2 percent next year and in 2028 the government plans to get out of the (ancient) EU deficit procedure. These are the most important conclusions from the double budget that Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer (SPÖ) presented on Tuesday. New austerity measures such as an increase in the E-Card fee and an expensive climate kit were also known.
