“After the resignation of Chancellor Nehammer, it is high time that the Vienna ÖVP chairman Karl Mahrer also takes his hat off,” demands the state party secretary of the Vienna FPÖ Lukas Brucker.
Mahrer stood out as one of the leading figures of the undemocratic anti-Kickl faction within the ÖVP and always ruled out supporting a coalition with FPÖ leader and election winner Herbert Kickl. Just two days ago he publicly longed for a coalition with the Marxist Andreas Babler, which would have meant massive tax burdens for the Austrian population.
“Mahrer embarrassingly ingratiated himself with the left-wing camp within the SPÖ and, together with the Babler inventor, Mayor Ludwig, fought for this black-red coalition until the end. If Mahrer has even an ounce of decency, he will follow Nehammer and resign today,” said Brucker.
